Two Teens Arrested In Connection To Boston School Shooting

BOSTON — Two teenagers were arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting at a Boston school that injured both a teacher and student earlier this month, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Both teens, only identified by their ages, are facing charges in connection to a March 15 shooting that took place in front of Dorchester's TechBoston Academy. A 31-year-old teacher and a 17-year-old student were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they searched for suspects for over a week, only noting that two men were seen driving away from the scene via scooter. As the result of an investigation, a 17-year-old from Lynn was arrested Wednesday after a short chase on foot that also led to the recovery of a loaded handgun.

A search warrant was issued for the teenager's house after his arrest, and officers say they found another handgun with a laser sight. A 16-year-old from Dorchester then turned himself in to police Saturday night.

In addition to gun charges, the two are facing charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

"An event like this shakes a school community—and the larger community—to its core. But in talking to students and staff at TechBoston I came away convinced of their strength and resiliency," Hayden said. "The fact that both defendants are juveniles makes this incident all the more sad and makes us all the more resolved to target the flow of guns onto our streets."

It is unclear if either of the two teenagers has an attorney.
