U.S. News Ranks Boston No. 30 'Best Place to Live'
U.S. News pegs Boston at 30th best place to live, rated relatively well for quality of life but predictably poorly on value.
BOSTON, MA - U.S. News & World Report pegs Boston at 30th "best place to live," ranking it below cities from Des Moines, IA, to Boise, ID, as well as the usual suspects like Denver, Seattle, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
It isn't that Boston's quality of life scored so far below these other cities. Predictably, we took the hit on value.
There, U.S. News scored the city 5.5 out of a possible 10 points, thanks to (you guessed it) the high cost of housing. Based on data from Zillow's median home sale price series, U.S. News lists housing costs here well over $100,000 higher than the national average.

Still, Boston came in ahead of Detroit, MI, and Scranton, PA. So that's... something.
