$8K Raised For Braintree Family Who Lost Home In Franklin Street Fire
A town employee and his elderly father lost everything in the recent fire. Now, Braintree is rallying to help them get back on their feet.
BRAINTREE, MA — A Jan. 25 house fire on Franklin Street took everything from the family who lived there. Now, an online fundraiser is trying to help them get back on their feet.
Neal Almeida Jr. works for the Town of Braintree, and had recently moved back into the Franklin Street home to help his aging father, the Patriot Ledger reports.
Almeida told the publication that they lost everything except for a few items of clothing they could grab. However, the stench of smoke has also ruined those.

His car parked outside of the home was also totaled in the fire.
Almieda's friend John McKenna then stepped in to create the online fundraiser, which has since generated over $8,000. The fundraiser remains ongoing and can be found here.
