Bertucci's To Offer 1980s Menu Prices In July

The Northborough-based Italian eatery is offering this retro deal beginning on Wednesday in celebration of the chain's 40th anniversary

BRAINTREE, MA - A Massachusetts-based Italian restaurant chain is offering customers a throwback deal beginning Wednesday, serving up food and prices from the 1980s at a time when diners are feeling the pinch of escalating food prices.

The promotion, which is taking place for four days this month for dine-in customers, celebrates the establishment's 40 years in business. A special retro menu reminiscent of when the chain first opened in Somerville's Davis Square includes brick-oven pizza, pasta and rolls with prices ranging from $3.25 to $6. The deal - offered on July 6,7, 13 and 14 - adds up to a 75% discount on more than 10 items.

“You got 40 years of local, loyal customers,” said Robert Earl, the CEO of Bertucci’s since 2018, in a Boston Business Journal article. “Prices are going through the roof because of the labor supply and supply chain of food. You turn on any TV and all you see is recession and inflation.”

He called the price break a way to “enjoy an inexpensive meal during a tough time.”

The chain filed for bankruptcy in 2018, and Earl purchased it for about $20 million. The company currently owns 14 restaurant brands, including Planet Hollywood and Buca Di Beppo.

Earl previously served up similar promotions at Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock Cafe, lowering prices back to 1991 and 1971 levels, respectively, at these venues.
