Braintree Heroes: Help Patch Recognize People Making A Difference

Residents have nominated local essential workers, volunteers and health care workers. Help us recognize more people.

BRAINTREE, MA — The adage 'not all heroes wear capes' is more apparent now than ever. Countless people are putting themselves in danger by simply showing up to work in essential roles for our communities, risking possible infection from the new coronavirus.

During the outbreak in Massachusetts, over 925 Braintree residents contracted COVID-19, and 119 residents have died, as of Tuesday.

Doctors, nurses, police and grocery store workers alike are just some of the professions with a high potential for exposure to the virus. Patch wants to recognize as many of these heroes as possible. Braintree residents have made several nominations:

'She Risks Exposure' For The Needs Of Students: Braintree Hero

Shaelin Roffey works as residential staff for the May Institute, a school in Randolph that works with students with autism and developmental disabilities.

Braintree EMT With A 'Big Heart': Patch Hero

EMT Dominic Cataldo's "fearless big heart" has made him a hero during the coronavirus pandemic, his nominator said.
