Braintree Holiday Tree Lighting Set For Thursday
A tree lighting on Thursday sets off the season for Braintree's new Festival of Trees this December.
BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree is readying to kick off the winter holiday season with Thanksgiving now nearly a week in the rearview mirror.
That season gets underway on Thursday with the town's annual tree lighting and, following the lighting, the first day of Braintree's newly launched Festival of Trees.
The tree lighting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday at Town Hall. The event will feature carol from the Braintree High School Choir and a visit from Santa Claus.

From the tree lighting, residents and locals can move inside to the Festival of Trees. Admission is $5 which includes a raffle ticket and access to treats inside, officials said.
Nearly 50 decorated trees will be featured at the event, and Fasano's Catering will donate cocoa and cookies.

On Saturday, Braintree hosts a storytime and sing-along event from 3 to 7 p.m., including a session for photos with Santa.
