Braintree Man On Boston's Most Wanted List In Custody
Officials said the man flashed a gun while in traffic on Tuesday, leading to his eventual arrest.
BOSTON, MA — A Braintree man who found himself on Boston's most wanted list was taken into custody after a traffic stop this week.
On Tuesday, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Michael O’Keefe, 51, of Braintree, for motor vehicle law violations and an active arrest warrant.
At about 9:02 a.m., officers responded to the area of 529 Main St. for a report of a person with a gun.

Officers were advised that the driver of a vehicle had displayed a firearm, and it was seen traveling inbound on Rutherford Avenue towards the Bunker Hill Community College area.
A Sergeant working a paid detail on the North Washington Street bridge observed the vehicle stopped at the Keaney Square traffic light in the left lane towards Commercial Street. With the assistance of responding officers, the vehicle was stopped and an exit order was given, officials said.

Officers requested the operator to produce a driver’s license, which he stated he did not have. Officers determined the suspect’s identity and that he had an active arrest warrant out of Boston Municipal Court for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Further investigation of the vehicle’s registration revealed that it had an inactive status.
During a motor vehicle inventory search, officers recovered a folding knife and a bottle of Sabre pepper spray. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the registration plates were removed.
O’Keefe was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following offenses:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
- Uninsured Motor Vehicle
- Number Plate Violation to Conceal ID
- Possession of Self-Defense Spray, Person with a Warrant
