Braintree Man Charged In Boston Sex Trafficking Investigation
The charge comes as part of an investigation into sex trafficking in the Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard area of Boston.
BRAINTREE, MA — A Braintree man faces sex trafficking charges after an investigation in Boston, police said this week.
On Monday, members of the Boston Police Human Trafficking Unit, working in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit, conducted an investigation to "address sexual exploitation victims in the areas of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard," officials said.
Detectives found an online advertisement for a victim that they were aware was sexually exploited and a victim of violent assaults, police said. Detectives contacted the phone number and made arrangements for a meetup.

At about 8:18 p.m., detectives observed a car parked at 69 Boston St. Detectives immediately became aware that the front seat passenger was the known victim, who exited the vehicle and entered the location.
At this time, detectives converged on the car and placed the suspect into handcuffs. Detectives conducted a search incident to arrest and recovered a plastic bag and glass jar of crack cocaine.

The suspect, Sacharis Gathers, 20, of Braintree, was placed under arrest and charged with trafficking for sexual servitude, deriving support from prostitution, possession of class B (crack cocaine) and an outstanding straight warrant for violations of the auto laws.
