CAMBRIDGE, MA — A Braintree man is one of two facing charges in a 2021 shooting incident in Cambridge, the Middlesex District Attorney announced.

A Middlesex Grand Jury indicted Anthony Samuel-Smith, 27, of Worcester, and Jameel Taron Clark White, 31, of Braintree, for their roles in a March 2, 2021, shooting and armed robbery on Spring and Fifth Streets that left a victim seriously injured.

Just after 1 a.m., Clark White and Samuel-Smith allegedly drove to the corner of Spring and Fifth Streets in Cambridge to meet the victim and another man. During the meeting, Clark White shot the victim at close range and stole his vehicle, which contained cocaine and fentanyl, before driving away with Samuel-Smith, officials said.

A police detective who was nearby working on an unrelated investigation heard the gunshot, came to the scene, and administered first aid to the victim who was taken to a nearby hospital and survived the attack.

As other police responded to the scene, they discovered the victim’s stolen vehicle and Samuel-Smith’s vehicle parked nearby, with the victim’s vehicle seemingly in the process of being ransacked.

Clark White has been charged with armed robbery with a firearm, carjacking with a firearm, trafficking cocaine over 200 grams, trafficking fentanyl over 200 grams, conspiracy to traffic cocaine and fentanyl over 200 grams, assault and battery by discharging a firearm, assault and battery using a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, use of a large capacity firearm during a felony, possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device, possession of a firearm, second offense and possession of a loaded firearm.
