Braintree Teens Win National Hockey Title

Braintree's Lizzie Emerson and Ally DeCoste won a Hockey National Championship at the 14U Tier I level with the Bay State Breakers.

From Bay State Breakers: On April 10, Braintree's Lizzie Emerson and Ally DeCoste won a USA Hockey National Championship at the 14U Tier I level with their Bay State Breakers U14 Green team.

With 16 of the top teams from across the country competing in the championship tournament in Rochester Michigan Emerson and DeCoste competed at the highest level of play for girls in this age group.
The Bay State Breakers team entered the tournament through an at-large bid having been ranked No. 2 nationally after a full season of play and a 27-10-2 record.

The team went 5-0 in the tournament with a thrilling 3-2 win against Chicago Mission in the finals. Ally set up the go ahead goal in the championship game. Lizzie was an extremely valuable player all season playing both defense and forward and had a key goal early in the tourney.

"I have been coaching these girls since around age nine. The compete level they both bring to the rink each time they hit the ice provides leadership to the whole group. Its been a fantastic ride and I'm proud of their accomplishment last week," said Ross Murray, Head Coach.

Ally plays varsity hockey for Phillips Exeter in the fall and Lizzie will be off to Hebron Academy to continue her academics and athletics next fall.
