Braintree To Unveil New Monument This Week
The city will unveil a monument for retired Vice Admiral Colin Kilrain, a Braintree native, on Thursday.

BRAINTREE, MA — Town officials will unveil a statue honoring a retired Vice Admiral with an esteemed military career.
As of Thursday, the Town Green will now feature a monument dedicated to Colin James Kilrain. Kilrain "exemplifies to the highest ideals of service, bravery and dedication to our country most notably in America's War on Terror," Mayor Erin Joyce said in a statement.
"His illustrious career in the Navy serves as an inspiration to us all, and it is only fitting that we honor his legacy in a place so dear to his heart."

In addition to his military career, Kilrain was also an All-American wrestler at Lehigh University.
Joyce said the unveiling is part of a multi-year planning effort to expand and reimagine the Town Green "to recognize the bravery and selflessness of Braintree heroes that served in conflicts not yet represented on our Town Hall Green."
