Demolition Delay For Historical Buildings Considered
The proposed ordinance is in front of the town council's ordinance and rules committee.

BRAINTREE, MA — The town council's ordinance and rules committee wants to know more about a proposed demolition delay ordinance before taking a position.
The ordinance would allow for the demolition of a building at least 75 years old to be delayed by six months and was proposed by Mayor Joseph Sullivan. Town Director of Planning and Community Development Christine Stickney, said the delay would allow the historical commission a chance to determine if a building should be preserved, according to the Patriot Ledger.
Councilor Charles Kokoros said at Wednesday's committee meeting that he felt the six-month period was pretty significant and asked for research regarding how many buildings would be impacted by the ordinance.
