The East Braintree fire station is finally ready for visitors this weekend after nine months undergoing renovations.The station at 1 Hayward St., will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday so residents can see the new look given to the 74-year-old building.Renovations started in March. Prior to that, the fire house had not been upgraded since it was first built back in 1941. The renovations cost slightly less than $1 million and included remodeling of the upstairs area, installation of a handicapped-accessible bathroom and improvements to the building's exterior.A trailer served as a temporary station while the work was being done.The East Braintree station, which is located across from the Donald Ross Elementary School, is one of Braintree's three fire houses.
