That total at the time of the race being called is:

  • Burke — 46,875

The 8th Congressional District covers numerous wards in Boston; Easton, in Bristol County; Avon, Braintree, Canton, Dedham, Holbrook, Norwood, Quincy, Stoughton, Walpole, Westwood, Weymouth and some of Milton in Norfolk County; and Abington, Brockton, East Bridgewater, Hingham, Hull, West Bridgewater and Whitman in Plymouth County.

Lynch has represented the district since October 2001, when he was sworn-in after the death of then Rep. John Joseph Moakley.

His opponent, Robert Burke, cites immigration as his top issue.

"I’m excited to represent the biggest party in MA 8th: The Independents, Democrats, and Republicans who are tired of the Kamala-Lynch open border, and all the migrant aliens eating up +1B in state tax money for hotels," a statement on his website reads.

"Massachusetts tax money that should have gone to help our kids, our roads, our schools, & our veterans. Close the border, let’s get America’s house in order and take care of citizens first."
