Norfolk County Sheriff's Office Adds New Members, Promotes 6 Others

Nine new correctional officers have been added while six others were promoted to sergeant during a recent ceremony.

DEDHAM, MA – Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott is proud to announce the graduation of nine new officers from the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office training academy, and the promotion of six other dedicated officers to the rank of sergeant.

The officers and sergeants were celebrated in a ceremony held Monday night at Grille 151 in Weymouth. They were joined by their proud families and friends.

“I know these newly-sworn officers will serve our agency and the people of Norfolk County with dignity and valor,” said Sheriff McDermott. “They have shown throughout their training that they are not just capable, but ready to excel in this new chapter of their lives.”

The theme of this year’s training academy was “Become One.”

“Each class brings with it a fresh perspective and an opportunity to reimagine what we do, and how we do it,” said Sheriff McDermott. “The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best correctional facilities in the nation, and I am confident this reputation will be enhanced by having these officers in our ranks.”

Six members of the NCSO who have been promoted to sergeant were also recognized during the ceremony.

“The six officers promoted to sergeant exemplify honor, commitment and resilience,” said Sheriff McDermott. “Their leadership, ability to motivate, and dedication will serve as a guidepost for other officers seeking to advance their careers and help all of us succeed as a team in this demanding profession.”

Sheriff McDermott also offered high praise for his academy training staff, which is led by its Commander Captain Francis Reynolds.

“We hold our organization to the highest standards and that begins with the academy,” said Sheriff McDermott. “Over these past several weeks, our training staff put together a rigorous, informative, and high-caliber training program that was physically, tactically, and academically demanding.”

The new Norfolk County Sheriff’s officers are:

-Officer Sandro Ferreira da Silva Geraldo

-Officer Blake Guilbault

-Officer Terrell Jacobs-Baston

-Officer Karina Maher

-Officer Ryan Mangan

-Officer John Sullivan

The newly promoted Norfolk County Sheriff’s sergeants are:

-Sgt. Douglas Carbone

-Sgt. Brendan Doogan

-Sgt. William Junkins

-Sgt. Alex Mann

-Sgt. Christine Murphy

-Sgt. Jim Ross

The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office training academy staff consists of:

-Commander Captain Francis Reynolds

-Assistant Commander Lieutenant Todd DeBoer

-Field Training Officer Ryan Howell

-Fitness Instructor Officer Stevie Orton

The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank Ayla Brown, a former American Idol finalist and current podcast host of “The Hangout with Jonathan and Ayla” for her stirring rendition of the national anthem during the graduation ceremony.
