Scooter Riders Fire Gunshots, Braintree Police Seek To ID Them

Police are seeking public assistance in finding two people who are believed to have fired a gun into the air while riding through town.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree police are seeking to identify two people who rode a scooter through Braintree while one fired three shots into the air.

Police said they responded to the area of Shaw and Nelson Streets around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 for a report of shots fired. Three shell casings were later found on the ground in that area, police said.

Surveillance footage from the same area showed a scooter with one person driving and one passenger. Just before 2:30 a.m., police said, the passenger on the scooter can be seen extending his arm into the air and firing three shots.

Police have obtained additional footage from Weymouth Landing's Commercial Street area, which shows two scooters with a passenger on board. The clothing worn by each person is consistent with the clothing worn by the people on the scooter in Braintree, police said.

It's unclear when they switched to one scooter, officials said, though both were seen in Weymouth Landing prior to the incident.
