Weapon Found In Backpack At Ross School
The school was placed on lockdown after school officials got word of the person with the backpack. No injuries have been reported.

BRAINTREE, MA — A weapon was found in a backpack a parent brought to Ross Elementary School Friday.
Police confirmed that they received a call from a person who was concerned about the well-being of a family member who is the parent of a student at Ross Elementary. At the recommendation of Braintree Police, the school went into lockdown after officers informed school officials.
The parent stayed in the main office with the principal until police arrived to remove him. He was transported by ambulance for medical attention, according to a joint press release from Braintree Police, Braintree Public Schools, and Mayor Joseph Sullivan.

After the parent was removed, police found a weapon in a backpack that the parent had brought into the school. At no time while the parent was in the school did they threaten anyone or state that they had a weapon.
The lockdown was lifted and school returned to its normal schedule once the parent was removed from the building.

"The decision to go into lockdown is always made with the utmost concern for student and staff safety. School staff did an outstanding job responding to this situation, which is drilled several times every year. We appreciate the outstanding and immediate response of the Braintree Police Department, who handled the situation with the seriousness and professionalism that continues to keep us all safe," the press release read.
The incident is under police investigation.
