23-Year-Old Brookline Athlete Wins 1st Place At Ironman Triathlon
Last weekend's triathlon was a close call, with Aaronn Gu competing against another athlete right up until the last couple meters.
BROOKLINE, MA — A 23-year-old Brookline resident won first place in an Ironman 70.3 Triathlon in Atlantic City, New Jersey over the weekend.
Aaronn Gu, who was named top male athlete in the Olympic Distance race at the 14th annual Boston Triathlon in August, has consistently podiumed at local triathlon races since last year, including the Hyannis Triathlon and Patriot Half.
In what has been described by his agent as a “rough race,” last weekend's triathlon was a close call, with Gu competing against another athlete right up until the last couple meters.

A Boston University alumnus, Gu grew up in China and has been running since elementary school. He got into swimming and cycling in college when he joined BU’s triathlon team.
