Apartment Evacuated After Carbon Monoxide Detection: Report
The fire department responded to a structure in the vicinity of Coolidge Corner.
BROOKLINE, MA — Residents of an apartment on John Street were evacuated from the building earlier this week after high levels of carbon monoxide were detected, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.
Fourth-floor resident Elijah Hernandez called the fire department after his carbon monoxide alarms went off, which resulted in the evacuation of approximately 12 residences. According to the department, the gas was emanating from a gas-powered generator being used in the basement of the building by a construction company.
The residents were able to safely return to their apartments later that same day.
