Attempted Murder, Trespassing, Shoplifting: Brookline Police Log

Here's a look at some examples of the types of calls police have been responding to lately in town.

BROOKLINE, MA — Police respond to dozens of emergency calls each day. The following reports are taken from the public police log and the Brookline Police blog. It's important to note that just because someone reports an incident to police doesn't mean that's the way it happened.

Sunday, Nov. 3

Lock Your Cars: There were three separate incidents of cars being broken and items stolen. Two happened on Jamaica Road and one on Highland Avenue. All three involved cars that were left unlocked. The thief targeted loose change, sunglasses and other small items.

Saturday, Nov. 2

Attempted Murder: Police arrested Darrell Williams, 59, of Roxbury and charged him with a default warrant for attempted murder, kidnapping assault and battery on a household member, intimidation of a witness, malicious destruction and threats to commit a crime issued by Brookline District Court. Police said they found Williams near Harrison and East Berkeley Street. His warrant was issued on Oct. 21, the day he cut his court ordered probation monitoring ankle device.

Phone: Someone called police to report a shoplifter at a store on Beacon Street. Officers met with an employee at the store who told police a woman came into the store around 12:30 p.m. wandered around then made her way to the phone accessories area where another costumer noticed her take something and place it into her pocket. After this she paid a phone bill and left the store with the stolen item. Police used the phone number from her phone bill and were able to contact her and retrieve the stolen property and issue her a summons to court for shoplifting.

Thursday, Oct. 31

Dangerous Weapon: Police arrested Douglas Sermeno, 24, of Revere and charged him with carrying a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police said someone flagged them down and an officer pulled over two cars for an unknown reason at Thayer Street and Thayer Place. After speaking with the drivers of both cars they found one of the drivers had an active default warrant out of Revere District Court. He was also issued a ticket for following a car too closely.

Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Trespassing: Police arrested Patricia Johnson, 63, of Boston for shoplifting. She also had a warrant out for her arrest issued by Roxbury District Court for trespassing, two warrants out of Dorchester for shoplifting, and a warrant from Boston for shoplifting and threats to commit a crime.

Unwanted: Police Arrested Michael Shane Sullivan, 35, of Dorchester and charged him on several warrants after someone at the Marriott Hotel called to report an unwanted person. When police found a person who fit the description of the man, they also found that he had four warrants out for his arrest out of Boston District Court for larceny, defrauding a restaurant, breaking and entering at night and larceny.

Brookline Police Investigate Assault On Strathmore Rd: Police said they were investigating an assault, but released no other details. Patch has asked for more information.
