BROOKLINE, MA — Bomb technicians were called to the Brookline Police Station Monday afternoon after a person brought a device into the lobby that resembled a grenade.

The surrounding area of Washington Street near the station was closed off until it was confirmed that the object was not dangerous. It was soon confirmed that the grenade was simply a replica, and had been purchased at an Army Navy store.

The community member reportedly found the replica and brought it to the station to report it. However, the department urges people not to transport any dangerous object they find and instead to let emergency services go to its location.
