Brookline Athlete Finishes Second Ironman Triathlon In 2 Weeks

In the 2022 race season, Aaronn Gu won first place in his age group in six races and got overall first place in three races.

BROOKLINE, MA — A 23-year-old Brookline resident won first place in his age category and second place overall in an Ironman 70.3 Triathlon in Laconia, New Hampshire over the weekend.

Aaronn Gu, who was named top male athlete in the Olympic Distance race at the 14th annual Boston Triathlon in August and won first place at another Ironman 70.3 Triathlon in Atlantic City, New Jersey earlier this month, has consistently podiumed at local triathlon races since last year, including the Hyannis Triathlon and Patriot Half.

In the 2022 race season from June to September, Gu won first place in his age group in six races, got overall first place in three races, and received second place in two races and third place in one race.

A Boston University alumnus, Gu grew up in China and has been running since elementary school. He got into swimming and cycling in college when he joined BU’s triathlon team.
