Brookline Boy, Cancer Patient To Bat At Fenway Park For Jimmy Fund

BROOKLINE, MA — Cael Su Sotto, a 3-year-old from Brookline has been named a patient partner for this year’s John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day to benefit the Jimmy Fund, taking place on Saturday, June 25.

The son of Yuli and Martin, Su Sotto is patient at Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. According to the clinic, the Jimmy Fund’s patient partner program honors those treated at Dana-Farber, highlighting their stories of struggle, strength, perseverance, and hope.

In September 2021, Su Sotto was diagnosed with leukemia. He was quickly admitted to the hospital and began treatment at Dana-Farber, where he has been an outpatient since. Cael wants to be a doctor when he grows up, so that he can take care of other children and families facing cancer. He also loves playing and watching sports, especially football, soccer, and baseball.

"Cael’s baseball dreams are becoming a reality, with the opportunity to play on-field at Fenway Park alongside other patients on June 25,” the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute said in a news release.

Fenway Fantasy Day, presented by John Hancock, is held annually and gives Dana-Farber patients the unique chance to take the field and run the bases at Fenway Park. To donate to help patients like Su Sotto bat and field under the Green Monster, click here.

Since 1992, John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day has raised $8.6 million for the Jimmy Fund, supporting pediatric and adult patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
