Brookline Fire Station Closed For Renovations
The location is shut down for nine months in early July.

BROOKLINE, MA — One of the town’s fire stations has closed down for an extended period earlier this month to allow for renovations.
Brookline’s Fire Station 4 is located at 827 Boylston St. The station officially closed at the beginning of the month to begin the first part of the Station Renovation project.
“These long-overdue renovations will substantially improve the daily living conditions for all of our firefighters, Fire Chief John Sullivan said. “Beyond the much-needed aesthetic improvements, these efforts are centered around two primary goals; gender equity for our female firefighters and reducing on-going exposures to the toxins and carcinogens from the apparatus and the fire ground in the living spaces of our employees.”

The department emphasized that no personnel will be present during the nine-month closure. Residents needing assistance should call 911 in the event of an emergency or the town’s Public Safety Dispatch Center for non-emergencies.
The fire engine that was housed in the station has been relocated to Station 6 on Hammond Street. The paramedic unit has been relocated to Station 7 on Washington Street. The station is slated to reopen in the spring of 2026.
