BROOKLINE, MA —Authorities arrested a Brookline man Wednesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of 20-year-old Nicolas "Cole" Kern, also of Brookline, in Amory Park early Tuesday.

Police Chief Andrew Lipson and Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey told reporters Wednesday night that authorities have arrested Singha Oeun, 21, of Egmont Street, and charged him with murder.

Lipson said there were no other suspects in the case, and that Oeun was arrested at a house on Wallace Circle in Malden.

"There is no ongoing danger to residents relative to this incident and no reason for there to be heightened fear in the area of Amory Park," he said.

Lipson added that the two men knew each other, but neither he nor Morrissey would give specifics of their relationship or discuss a motive for the stabbing.

Police answering a 911 call found Kern shortly after 1:30 a.m. in Amory Park with several stab wounds. He died later in the hospital. The slaying was the first in the town since 2006.

"Detectives from the Brookline and State Police have worked non-stop since Nicholas Kern was transported from Amory Park to the Beth Israel Hospital in the early morning hours Tuesday," Morrissey said in a release. "I wish to thank Brookline Police Chief Andrew Lipson and the members of his department for the outstanding cooperation and coordination we have experienced in this investigation."

Oeun will be arraigned in Brookline District Court Thursday morning.
