BROOKLINE, MA —The Brookline Select Board unanimously voted Friday morning to terminate Police Chief Ashley Gonzalez, effective immediately.

Gonzalez, who was hired earlier this year, was accused of breaking the town's policy against discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation and placed on paid administrative leave in early August.

“A couple weeks ago we were in the same room to welcome Chief Gonzalez and we had high hopes,” Select Board Chair Heather Hamilton said.
