Building Partially Collapses In Brookline
The top portion of the Vernon Street structure unexpectedly collapsed Sunday.

BROOKLINE, MA — No one was injured after the top two floors of the structure on 50 Vernon St. collapsed this past Sunday, according to the Brookline Fire Department.
The three-story building partially collapsed at approximately 10 a.m., with Brookline fire and Coastal Ambulance arriving on scene shortly after. The neighboring building on 52 Vernon St. was evacuated as safety precaution.
Brookline Building Commissioner Dan Bennett expressed his concern with the stability of the free-standing wall and the attached front facade. He added that the cause of the incident is unknown.

“All building permits for this site are active and valid,” Bennett said in a statement. “The scene will be secured until the structure has been stabilized and we ask everyone to abide by the perimeter for their own safety.”
