Brookline Police respond to dozens of calls each day. Here is what they've responded to recently.

BROOKLINE, MA — Police respond to dozens of emergency calls each day. Between Sunday, Oct. 20 and Friday, Oct. 25 Brookline Police responded to dozens of calls. The following reports are taken from the public police log and the Brookline Police blog. It's important to note that just because someone reports an incident to police doesn't mean that's the way it happened.

Friday, Oct. 25

Warrant, Child Rape: Police arrested John Sanzone, 31, of Brookline around 10:45 a.m. inside a coffee shop on Boylston Street in the Fenway area of Boston. He was wanted on probation warrants out of Brookline District Court on three counts of indecent battery on a child under 14, and eight counts of rape of a child, and six counts of indecent battery on a child under 14.

Thursday, Oct. 24

Shoplifting: Police arrested Akbar Rshada, 57, of Chelsea, and charged him with shoplifting, third offense. Police were called to the Harvard Street TJ Maxx for a report of a shoplifter. When police got there the loss prevention officer at the store told them the man had attempted to take $499 worth of clothing from the store.

Wednesday, Oct. 23

Suspended license: Police arrested Donnell Dunn, 23, of Boston, and had the car he was driving towed. Police stopped him for speeding on Hammond Street and found his license had been suspended.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

Cat bite: Police got a call from Mount Auburn Hospital to report that a woman who worked at a home on Pearl Street was bitten by a cat there. The woman who was bit then told police she was working in the home of the cat’s owner when she accidentally stepped on the cat. When she did that, the cat bit her ankle. The cat was not up to date on vaccinations and will be quarantined for testing.

Lock your car doors: A Hyslop Road resident called to report her car was broken into, items strewn about and loose change was missing. Initially she did not report the crime to the police. But after hearing about similar car breaks in the neighborhood she felt she should report it.

Monday, Oct. 21

Man with Knife: Around 7:25 a.m. officers someone texted 911 that a man with a knife was threatening to kill people on the MBTA Green line trolley near Fairbanks Road and Beacon Street. Police came to the area and saw a man who matched the description walking toward Washington Street. They stopped him, and asked him if he was on the train and if he had a knife. He told police he was on the train, and that the knife was inside a grocery bag he was carrying along with two rotisserie chickens. Police had the person who reported the event come identify the man. Transit Police ultimately arrested Stephen Fusco, 52, of Somerville, and charged him with for assault by means of a dangerous weapon to wit a knife.

Sunday, Oct. 20

No headlights: Police arrested Neil Vachon-Brummitt, 24, of Brookline and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger negligently, failure to stop for a police officer, not duly licensed, speeding and headlights failure to display. Police said they saw a car heading down Harvard Street with no lights on around 3:15 a.m. When police approached, the driver, later identified as Vachon-Brummitt, started to speed, then took a left onto Beals Street, lost control and hit a telephone pole. Police said the man jumped out of the car. During an exchange between the officer and the man, police said his breath smelled like he'd been drinking, and his speech was slow and slurred. They said they found a bottle of liquor on him and a cup with alcohol in it inside the car.
