Coronavirus in Brookline: Number Of Cases Now Above 200
As of Monday night, there were six deaths in Brookline related to COVID-19.

BROOKLINE, MA — The number of people who have tested positive in Brookline for the new coronavirus is now above 200, according to town data.
As of Monday a total of 206 people had tested positive for the virus that causes the COVID-19 illness. Six people have died in town, according to officials.
The number of confirmed new coronavirus cases across the commonwealth jumped 1,566 to 39,643 Monday, according to the daily update from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The department also reported 103 new deaths, bringing the total of Massachusetts residents who have died from the virus to 1,809.

A state of emergency remains in effect until at least May 4. With Massachusetts now home to some of the highest number of cases in the country, it's not clear of Gov. Charlie Baker will extend it as New York's Gov. Andrew Cuomo did recently for New York, largely considered the epicenter of the US outbreak.
Echoing the health experts, Brookline officials implored residents to continue to stay home as much as possible and to wear masks or cloth coverings when going out for essential items.
