Brookline Arbor Day 2012

The Brookline Selectmen proclaimed Friday, May 4 to be Arbor Day in Brookline. This both recognizes Arbor Day as an important event, and maintain's Brookline's designation as a Tree City USA.

To celebrate, town Tree Warden Thomas Brady announced two events on May 4. The first, at 10 a.m. at the , and the second at 1:30 p.m. at the . The schools will plant two Kwanzan Cherry seedlings, donated by the Japanese Consulate.

This commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Japanese gift of Cherry Trees to Washington D.C., and one year anniversary of the earthquake which devastated Tokyo
