Department of Public Works Open House 2012

Each year, as part of National Public Works Week, the Brookline Department of Public Works (DPW) opens its doors to the public, and hosts a field trip with the town's 3rd graders for the Public Works Show and Tell event.

This year, the theme is "Public Works: Creating a Lasting Impression."

You can expect to tour the Municipal Service Center, look at the equipment the DPW uses, watch the robotic sewer camera in action, and learn about planting, composting and surveying--just to name a few things.

A memo from the DPW Commissioner says, "National Public Works Week is an annual reminder of the many ways Public Works contributes to our quality of life. The week seeks to enhance the prestige of the often-unsung heroes of our society--the professionals who serve the public good every day with quiet dedication. During this weeklong celebration, professionals take part in events and activities that increase public awareness of and appreciation for the public works profession."
