Hancock Village Developer to Submit New Development Plan This Week

The Board of Selectmen have each vocalized their disapproval of this plan.

Board of Selectmen Chairwoman Betsy DeWitt announced that the Hancock Village 40B developer, Chestnut Hill Realty, will submit new plans for a smaller development to MassDevelopments at some point this week. From there, MassDevelopment will decide if this plan is appropriate for the site.

This plan, according to DeWitt, is the same footprint with a smaller number of units and parking spaces. The original plan had 271 rental units, 55 of which would be reserved as affordable. The new proposal would take up the same amount of land space, but offer 192 units, 38 of which would be affordable. There would also be 79 fewer parking spaces.

“This proposal will have the same impact on the site and the green space as the original one,” DeWitt said. “Therefore, the town will oppose it.”
