MA Cannabis Commission Greenlights Sale Of NETA, On Condition
The Cannabis Control Commission approved the sale of New England Treatment Access, but raised some concerns about the new company's record.

BROOKLINE, MA — The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission just approved New England Treatment Access sale to national marijuana company Surterra Wellness. NETA, the Massachusetts-based cannabis company that owns a medical marijuana and recreational dispensary in Brookline and a recreational shop in Northampton, announced in January that Surterra was set to acquire the business. Surterra has companies in Florida, Texas, and Nevada.
State commissioners did express concern about a recent report that a Surterra factory that processes the products did not complete a food safety inspection and had to be shut down and that the company had violated Florida advertising restrictions, State House News Service first reported.
So the commission included in the approval conditions that would require Surterra to submit plans to comply with Massachusetts regulations around edible products, advertising and marketing, according to Statehouse News.
