MEDIAGIRLS Screens Award-Winning Documentary on Body Image
The screening will take place on Sunday, April 30, 4 to 6 pm, at the Showcase Superlux in Chestnut Hill.

From MEDIAGIRLS: MEDIAGIRLS announced today that it is hosting the first and only Boston-area screening of Embrace, an award-winning documentary that uncovers why poor body image has become a global epidemic.
The screening will take place on Sunday, April 30, 4:00 to 6:00 pm, at the Showcase Superlux in Chestnut Hill, MA, followed by a discussion led by radio personality Pebbles of HOT 96.9 FM and MEDIAGIRLS Founder and Executive Director Michelle Cove. “MEDIAGIRLS is excited to screen this documentary because it speaks directly to our mission: to help girls and young women discover their true selves and speak up for their beliefs,” said Executive Director Michelle Cove. “Mainstream media is a constant barrage that tries to normalize an impossible female ideal with damaging repercussions. Like this film, we encourage girls and young women to fight back and set their own standards for self-worth.”
The culture of body loathing and body shaming has reached epic proportions worldwide. Embrace is a touching, funny and poignant documentary that follows one woman's experience of devoting her life to achieving the “ideal body type,” only to find that reaching this goal made her miserable.
