Police: Man Stole Bait Bike on Fuller Street

Brookline Police charged a Boston man with stealing a bait bike designed to track bike thefts.
Brookline Police responded to a report of a larceny of a bicycle at Commonwealth Avenue and Babcock Street at 9:07 p.m. on June 23.
Officers planted a bait bike at about 4:30 a.m. on June 21, locking it to a “No Parking” sign on Fuller Street. The bike was equipped with a GPS system. Officers began tracking the bike at about 9 p.m.

The bike’s GPS showed that it was near Babcock Street and Commonwealth Avenue when the officer headed in that direction.
The GPS showed the bike at St. Paul Street, Amory Street, and Essex Street, before turning right onto St. Mary’s Street. The officer turned down St. Mary’s Street and hit the lights. The suspect reportedly kept traveling at a faster pace down Park Drive towards Beacon Street.

According to police, the suspect ditched the bike near an alleyway at 504 Park Drive. Officers grabbed the suspect on Park Drive and Beacon Street.
Officers arrested Ricardo Morales, 47, of 143 Hemenway Street, Boston was charged with resisting arrest and larceny of property over $250.
