BROOKLINE, MA – Small Door Vet, a membership-based and technology-powered veterinary care provider, has expanded to Brookline, opening a new practice on Monday.

The new Small Door location in Brookline is situated in the Coolidge Corner area at 297 Harvard St., offering what it describes as a state-of-the-art practice with a tech-enabled, membership-based model.

“It's a very technology forward company, which means from the patient and client perspective, that there is quick access to all different types of new concepts in the veterinary medicine field,” Principal Veterinarian Beth Waisburd said. “There's a lot of collaboration, not just between the doctors in each office, but between the doctors in Massachusetts and New York and DC.”

The first location in the Boston area was opened in Newton in January. The veterinary practice is New York-based, with five locations in New York and three locations in Washington D.C.

Waisburd said there is a need for a veterinary practice in Brookline, especially in the wake of the surge in pandemic-era pet adoption.

“You can't walk anywhere in the Brookline area and beyond without seeing pets everywhere,” Waisburd said. “The need is there, and I think that people want the best care.”

Small Door offers a membership cost of $169 per pet per year. The membership includes a free annual exam as well as same day or next day appointments, among other things.

The practice also focuses on preventative care to ensure the best quality medicine and the best quality experience for pets and their people, Waisburd said.

She encourages Brookline community members to visit the new office, which was designed to be comfortable and calming for both pets and their owners.
