Woman Acquitted In Brookline Manslaughter Case

Penelope McGee was found not guilty related to the 2020 death of her ex-husband.

BROOKLINE, MA — Penelope McGee was found not guilty by a judge Wednesday on a manslaughter charge relating to the death of her ex-husband, according to Norfolk Superior Court.

Judge Beverly Cannone acquitted her for causing the death of 66-year-old Andrew Savitz, who became unresponsive at his Brookline home on 40 Meadowbrook Road after an argument with McGee. The 53-year-old was first arrested in March 2021 for the incident that occurred 14 months earlier.

McGee and Savitz’s daughter, Zuzzie Savitz, testified that her parents got into a physical altercation and that McGee was the instigator. After Andrew Savitz collapsed, McGee performed CPR on him. McGee’s representation argued that Andrew Savitz instigated the fight and that McGee was defending herself.
