For 50th Year, Burlington Mall Will Host Safety Town
The police department will help children learn about pedestrian, traffic and bus safety.

BURLINGTON, MA — The Burlington Police Department, together with the Burlington Mall, will be putting on the 50th annual Safety Town next month.
Safety Town is a child-sized town where children entering kindergarten and first grade are taught about pedestrian, traffic and bus safety.
Safety Town will be Aug 17-19 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at The Village at the mall. Twenty children can register for each session.

There will also be a Caring Safety Town, designed for children with autism. That will be held Aug. 20 at 9 a.m. and is open to the first six-to-eight children registered.
All children should be wearing sneakers and bring a bicycle helmet to Safety Town.

"We are proud to have presented Safety Town for 50 years, ensuring that children throughout the area learned how to be safe on their bike or on a school bus," Chief Thomas Browne said. "The Department is grateful to have a partner such as the Burlington Mall, which has been generous in offering its time and space for this important program."
"Burlington Mall is honored to host events for families and values our community partnerships with First Responders," Sheila Hennessy, the director of mall marketing, said. "It’s exciting to host a program for 50 years and now see multiple-generation families graduate from the program."
