54th Annual Safety Town Event Coming To Burlington Mall
The event is intended "to educate kindergarteners through third graders about pedestrian, bus, and traffic safety."
BURLINGTON, MA — The 54th annual Safety Town event is returning to Burlington this month. The Burlington Police Department, Massachusetts Safe Routes to School Program, and Burlington Mall are partnering to teach young students about pedestrian, bus, and traffic safety.
The event will be Aug. 13 to 14 at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.at the Village at Burlington Mall at 85 Middlesex Turnpike.
Safety Town is intended "to educate kindergarteners through third graders about pedestrian, bus, and traffic safety," according to a statement from the mall.

Registration is required for all 60-minute classes.
"Safety Town has been educating kids through using child-sized buildings, roads, and traffic signals for more than 50 years. During the event, Burlington Police officers show children the proper way to get on and off a school bus in a fun learning environment," according to the statement.

This event includes free bike safety checks and teaching kids about the safest routes to local schools.
Children from kindergarten through third grade are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets.
Cycle Loft-Trek Bikes of Burlington will also be conducting complimentary bicycle safety checks for the kids as part of the event.
