Today is Tuesday, April 23. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Afternoon rain likely: Looks like a gray day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect rain after 1 p.m. Otherwise mostly cloudy with a high near 47 degrees. Rain likely tonight. Otherwise cloudy with a low around 41 degrees. 
  • Public meetings: The Board of Health is meeting at 7 p.m. in the main hearing room at Town Hall. The School Committee is meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Burlington High School. The Shawsheen Tech School Committee is meeting the John Miller Conference Room, 100 Cook Street, Billerica. 
  • Mariokart: The Burlington Public Library is holding a Wii Mariokart for students in grades 6-12 at 4 p.m. Come down and show off your racing skills.
  • New career help: The Burlington Public Library is hosting a Career Transition program from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today. This is a networking and workshop dedicated to providing a 'roadmap to re-employment' for transitioning professionals. It is free and all are welcome.
  • Little bakers: Panera Bread has started a new baking lessons program for children aged 5 to 12. The Panera Bread's Bakers in Training (B.I.T.) program will teach your "Baker in Training" the essentials of kitchen safety, proper food handling and food preparation. Plus, all B.I.T. Kids will be outfitted with their own baking hat and learn to bake their own loaf of bread and decorate a cookie. Cost is $15. Click here for more details.
