Today is Friday, May 17. Here are 5 things you need to know:

  • Sunny: Looks like a nice day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect sunny skies with a high near 72 degrees. Windy with gusts as high as 23 miles per hour. Mostly clear tonight with a low around 46. 
  • Public meeting: The Burlington Disability Access Commission is meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Recreation Department in the Human Services Building. 
  • Wine tasting: Busa Wine & Spirits is holding a tasting of New Zealand's Oyster Bay wines from 4 to 7 p.m. The winery makes wines that have "unique attributes, quality and style." 
  • Candy necklace: The Burlington Public Library is holding a program where children aged 5-12 can make candy necklaces at 3 p.m. today. "At this event we will tackle the art of jewelry making... with candy! There will be all kinds of candy to create your one of a kind necklace. These will not be your typical pieces of jewelry!"
  • Yardsale for Girl Scouts: The Friends of the Burlington Girl Scouts are hosting a multi-family yard sale and lemonade stand tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 5 Eishenhower Drive. Items include, books, toys, gently used children's clothing, baby gear and household items.
