The Teen kick-off for the “Beneath the Surface” program will be that afternoon at 3 p.m. We’ll have a variety of events for all ages throughout the summer and numerous opportunities to earn great prizes. We’ll see you at the library!
“Groundbreaking Reads”, the adult summer reading program has begun. With both an online and a paper option, you can choose your method of participation. From June 1 through August 31 all you need to do is register and share online or fill out a paper form for each book you read or listen to and drop it in the raffle box in the library. Two prizes will be awarded each month, one chosen randomly from our online readers, and one from our paper-and-pen readers.
For more information about any of the Summer Reading events, stop by the library and pick up a brochure or visit our website.
Thursday, June 20 at 7 p.m. - A Trip Back in Time: a 1908 Tea
Join the Friends of the Library as they present A Trip Back in Time: a 1908 Tea with Rita Parisi of Waterfall Productions. If you every wonder what tea time was all about, why it was so popular, you’ll want to attend this program.
In the character of Mrs. Gordon, a middleclass lady from 1908, Rita will entertain her audience with stories about life at the turn of the 20th century and a recent trip to Boston. We will learn how at the turn of the last century, the afternoon tea provided ladies a chance to socialize and discuss fashion, family and social concerns. Then she will engage her audience in an open forum discussion as she shares her latest 1908 issue of the Ladies Home Journal.
Museum Passes
The very popular Lowell Spinners Pass is being offered again this year thanks to the sponsorship of the Degurski Family. As you can imagine, this is a high demand pass with limited dates available for use. Because of this, it is limited to ONE pass per family per Spinners season in order to allow as many families to enjoy the Spinners events as possible. No exceptions or same day walk-ins will be made.
This is just one of the many passes available at the library mainly through the support of the Friends. To see the complete list or to reserve any of the passes, visit the library’s website (burlingtonpubliclibrary.org) and click on the Museum Passes” tab. As always, if you have questions, call the Circulation Department at 781 270-1693.
