Burlington Board of Health To Hold Hazardous Waste Collection
The event will offer free disposal of most items.

BURLINGTON, MA — The Burlington Board of Health will hold its annual household waste collection event later this month at Francis Wyman Elementary School.
Community members are invited to visit the Francis Wyman School on Sept. 17 for the collection. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

- Full aerosol cans
- Florescent light bulbs
- Oil based paints and stains
- Pool chemicals
- Thinners and solvents
- Driveway sealer and roofing tars
- Non-alkaline batteries
- Household chemicals
- Automotive products (oil, antifreeze, gas, etc.)
- Mercury containing products
- Pesticides/chemicals fertilizers
- Propane tanks
- Toxic cleaning products
Medical sharps will not be accepted at this event. The same goes for latex paint, which should instead be dried out and thrown in the trash, as noted in a Board of Health event announcement.
Waste disposal through the Burlington Board of Health's collection events is usually free unless an individual needs to dispose of what the board describes on its website as an “unusually large amount of materials.”
