Burlington FD Holds Swearing-In, Pinning For Promoted Leaders
The promoted leaders are: Andrew Connerty, chief, Steven McLean, assistant chief, Michael Bibbey, captain, and Brendan Micciche, lieutenant.

BURLINGTON, MA — The Burlington Fire Department announced that multiple personnel moves officially took place earlier this month on the day Andrew Connerty was sworn in as fire chief.
On Jan. 9, Connerty was sworn in at a fire station ceremony after previously being named the successor to retiring chief Michael Patterson.
Connerty, who was promoted from assistant fire chief, has been with the Burlington FD for 29 years and holds a bachelor's degree in fire science administration from Waldorf College.

On Jan. 6, Patterson retired after 34 years of service to the Burlington FD. Connerty paid tribute to Patterson just weeks before the latter's retirement.
"Chief Patterson should be satisfied that throughout his career, he delivered the best service possible to the town of Burlington, its residents, its visitors, and the business community," Connerty said.

At the same ceremony in which Connerty was sworn in as chief, Steven McLean was sworn in as assistant chief.
McLean has been with the department for over 30 years and holds a bachelor's degree in emergency management from Rivier University.
Earlier that day, the Burlington Select Board officially promoted Michael Bibbey to captain and Brendan Micciche to lieutenant. Those two also were part of the swearing-in and pinning ceremony.
Bibbey is a second-generation Burlington firefighter who has been with the department for 34 years. Micciche has been a firefighter for 16, and he previously spent four years as a dispatcher with the department and over 10 years with the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services (DFS).
"Each of these members has served our department and our community for a long time, and these promotions are a reflection of their commitment to the fire service," Connerty said. "They are all well-deserved and I look forward to the contributions they'll make in the new and advanced leadership positions."
