BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington will gather next week to honor longtime public servant Paul Raymond, according to an announcement on Monday from the town Planning Department.

The event is set for Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cafe Escadrille at 6 Cambridge St. in Burlington.

Raymond had been a fixture of town government across five decades prior to his retirement earlier this year.

Among many roles, he kicked off his public service in 1971 with his first election to a seat on Burlington’s representative town meeting.

He later became a Planning Board member in 1990, holding that position until this year.

Raymond also served on the Burlington Recreation Commission, the Land Use Committee and the Bike Committee among many other roles.

“It’s certainly been a pleasure serving,” Raymond said in his retirement announcement to the Planning Board in July.

Colleagues at the time celebrated Raymond for his work on behalf of Burlington.

Roughly three months later, the town will reconvene for a larger celebration.

“Come join us as we honor Paul’s amazing contributions to our town,” the Planning Department said in its event announcement this week.
