BURLINGTON, MA — Simon Property Group, the owner of Burlington Mall, said Tuesday that the mall's growth in 2022 had exceeded the company's expectations.

In a press release, Simon noted that the mall had added 33 new stores during the year and seen an increase in community programming at various gathering and outdoor spaces at the mall.

The company said there already are plans to add additional new stores early in 2023.

"This year, over 135,000 square feet of retail, lifestyle, and restaurant space has been leased at Burlington Mall," said Laura Schwartz, regional vice president of leasing for Simon Property Group. "We've seen innovative adaptations to otherwise traditional spaces by tenants like Common Craft, which allow for a new unique hospitality experience for diners. We've also been proud to see increased accessibility to the mall utilized in the form of three new entrances. We look forward to what's in store in the years to come."

Highlighting the list of new stores was the first brick-and-mortar Joss & Main location, which opened in September. Other well-known retail brands new to the mall are: Lands' End, Fabletics, Gilly Hicks, CAMP: A Family Experience Company, and Miltons: The Store for Men.

New dining options in the mall include: Parm, which was the first location in Massachusetts, Bennett's Sandwich Shop, Common Craft, Fogo De Chao, Shake Shack and Rosa Mexicano.

Among the retailers already scheduled to open in 2023 are: Pyscho Bunny, The North Face, Auntie Anne's and Jamba.

Simon Properties noted that The Park, the mall's relatively new outside green space, played a vital role in helping the mall increase community programming.

This year, Free People Movement hosted "Ride and Shop" stationary cycling experience at The Park, while Sunset Salsa, which featured dance lessons and performances, also took place at the outdoor space.

The Park also was home to a Harvest Farmers Market, which proved so successful that a 28-week farmers market is scheduled to be part of programming in 2023.

"This year has really allowed us to connect with our shoppers and the Burlington community
like never before," said Sheila Hennessy, director of marketing and business development at
Burlington Mall.

Hennessey continued: "People are stopping by to shop in person, grab lunch or an early dinner, or to spend time at The Park for an event. It's been great to see the shoppers interacting with every
service we have to offer, in addition to retail."
