Burlington Man Arraigned Following High-Speed Pursuit

Burlington resident Edgardo Rodrigeuz was arraigned Thursday following a high-speed pursuit Wednesday night. A police report reveals more details.

A Burlington man was arraigned in Lawrence District Court today after police arrested him during a on Interstate 93 last night.

Edgardo Rodriguez, 31, of 3 Arthurwood Ave., Burlington, was eventually found by an infrared camera on a helicopter after he decided to flee on foot. He has been charged with failing to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding in violation of a special regulation and a marked lanes violation. He also had two warrants.

Rodriguez was not released following his arraignment Thursday. Court officials say that he will most likely be transported to the Middleton Correctional Facility.

A March 10 pretrial date was set.

Rodriguez nearly hit several pedestrians in Boston at roughly 9 p.m. last night, at which point a State Trooper began following him when he fled on Interstate 93 northbound. Police eventually used a device to puncture his tires but Rodriguez then began to flee on foot. The State Police Air Wing unit eventually located Rodriguez in the woods near the exit for Route 133 and police made the arrest. No one was injured in the incident.

A police report from State Trooper Francis Ducharme revealed several other details about the incident.

  • Rodriguez was traveling at speeds of roughly 110 miles per hour during the chase and, at one point, he decided to turn his lights off jump sporadically between lanes.
  • After "stop sticks" punctured his tires, Rodriguez's vehicle crashed into a snow bank before he fled on foot.
  • While he was still in Boston and not yet on the highway, Boston Police say that Rodriguez was traveling at speeds of 100 miles per hour inside the city.
  • Rodriguez began the chase with both is brother and his brother's girlfriend in the car.
