Knife-Wielding Man Shot After Charging Police: DA
The man in his 40s is being treated for life-threatening injuries at the hospital. One of the officers suffered minor injuries.

BURLINGTON, MA — Police shot a man who advanced on officers with a knife Sunday afternoon, the Middlesex District Attorney said.

Police responded to a 911 call at the Lord Baron Apartments shortly after noon from a man who said he was having mental health issues, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said. The man said he wasn't sure how he'd respond when police arrived.

Two officers got to the scene and were told to wait outside until more police came. While they were waiting, the man came out of the building with a knife and moved toward officers, Ryan said.
The man ignored commands to drop the weapon and ran toward officers, Ryan said. One of the officers shot the man with a less-than-lethal round, but it did not stop him. The other officer shot the man with his gun.
