Burlington Relay for Life Draws Big Turnout, Raises Big Money for Fight Against Cancer
Check out our image gallery of Burlington's 2013 Relay for Life and our video of the traditional Survivor Lap that begins the event.
Varsity Field at the Burlington High School was alive with activity this weekend as members of the Burlington community came together to raise money to fight cancer.
Once again the field was packed with people coming together for a single cause. This year, unlike the last two, the weather worked out and participants were able to relay under sunny skies. The last two years saw heavy rainfall that dampened the participants but not their spirit or enthusiasm.
This year, as it has been in the years before, the fundraising was a big success. According to the event's web site, a total of $120,472.97 was raised leading up to the relay. More was raised this past weekend and we'll get the totals from event coordinators once they get a good night of sleep following the overnight relay.

We also have a video of the traditional Survivor Lap where cancer survivors are invited to start the relay by taking the first lap along with their caregivers. This year members of the Burlington Police Department Color Guard led the Survivor Lap.
