Burlington Says Hello To Pocket Parks

The inaugural Pocket Park will include one-day beer garden in collaboration with Boston-based Crafted.

BURLINGTON, MA — The Pocket Park is coming to Burlington.

The town is utilizing outdoor spaces to create a community hangout spot and drum up support for local business. A Pocket Park is one of Burlington's efforts to engage the community and revitalize the Town Center.

The Pocket Park will be Sat., Oct. 23, from noon-6 p.m. next to Sweet Ginger at the corner of Cambridge Street and Moran Avenue. There is a rain date of Oct. 24.

Local companies have struggled since the start of the pandemic, which started now almost 20 months ago. The event aims to bring people to the businesses.

"One main missions of the office is to enliven the areas around the small businesses," Economic Development Director Melisa Tintocali told the Board of Selectmen. "We have a lot of opportunities to grow this area over time. What we’re trying to do is activate it by working with the property owner and business owners to revitalize underused areas."
